Baby Scene FAQ’s

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, we may not have a sonographer at the studio at the time you walk-in; therefore, we highly suggest booking an appointment in advance at 813.392.1400.

How are the sonograms done?

Baby Scene is an opportunity for you to see your baby in real time. You will lay on our comfortable sonogram “bed” and a clear, odorless gel will be applied to your belly. The sonographer will use a high-tech wand and glide it over your abdomen area. Your baby’s image will appear on our 65” TV.

What should I wear?

We suggest casual wear or workout clothes. Your belly area will be exposed making a dress or skirt a bit more problematic with modesty. Belly button piercings should be removed prior to your appointment.

How do you make sure you can see the baby’s face and movements?

There are many factors to consider when peeking in on the baby such as positioning, placenta blocking and low amniotic fluid. We strongly encourage you to eat or drink something sugary 15-20 minutes prior to your visit to help get the baby to move. If you are less than 20 weeks, we ask that you please arrive with a full bladder. Our trained sonographers have little tricks of the trade to coax him or her along if he/she is not cooperating.

What if you are unable to see the baby clearly or determine the baby’s sex?

We will attempt to get the best images possible and give you the ability to see your little one, however, if he/she is not cooperative and no printed images are received, or we cannot determine the baby’s sex, we offer you a complimentary rescan within one week of your original appointment with a different sonographer. No rescans are given after 36 weeks of pregnancy.

Who can come with me?

Our sonogram room has comfortable seating for 10-12 people, and we are happy to Skype or Facetime with those unable to make the appointment.

Can I bring my child?

Absolutely, we love having big brother or big sister join you!

How long is the sonogram?

We have a variety of packages ranging from a 10 minute pregnancy confirmation to a 45 minute session.

Can I take pictures?

Of course, however, to enable you to enjoy the full experience of seeing your baby we will give you a flash drive with all the images and videos.

What is the weight limit of your sonogram table?

Our table can hold up to 380 lbs.

What type of equipment is used for the sonogram?

At Baby Scene, we have the top of the line GE Voluson E8 BT13.

Are the sonographers medical professionals?

All of our sonographers have completed courses and training in obstetrics-gynecology, and several are board-certified sonographers.

Is the sonogram covered by insurance?

No, we are an elective sonogram for entertainment and sentimental purposes only.

Do I need to see a doctor before going to you?

For a pregnancy confirmation you do not need to be under the care of an OB/GYN yet, but should be under the care of a primary care physician. For gender reveal and 3D/4D/5D HD Live ultrasounds you must be under the care of an OB/GYN.

Can you measure the baby’s size and/or determine my due date?

This can be done at your OB/GYN’s office during your regular prenatal care. We are a non-diagnostic studio; our ultrasounds do not take the place of those done at your OB/GYN during routine prenatal care, therefore we are unable to provide such information.
